Queen Elizabeth Hospital Pink Glove Dance
To show support for fellow colleagues, the patients they care for and the many families who have been touched by breast cancer, staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital decided to create their own Pink Glove Dance video – a hugely popular initiative originally created by MedLine, the company who supplies medical gloves to hospitals, in support of breast cancer awareness. This past summer approximately 900 staff, physicians and volunteers from every department at the QEH danced to promote breast cancer awareness and to help find a cure. For more information on the Pink Glove Dance, please visit www.pinkglovedance.com. For more information about the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, visit http

Ruairi Quinn says "It is vital that St Luke’s is not sold off to private developers for a huge apartment block. If there is a valid medical argument for transferring services to St James’, then the buildings and lands must be retained within the health services – perhaps as a stepdown facility for those recovering from serious illness. The Minister must commit to not sign any contracts until after the election."

What Cancer Hospital’s in Utah let you come and read to the cancer children?
Question by Hailey: What Cancer Hospital’s in Utah let you come and read to the cancer children?
I am doing a school project and I need 10 or more hours of service.. I REALLY wanna help the cancer kids. So if any of the hospitals in Utah (preferably Salt Lake Area) please tell me anything else you can do!! By the way I am 12 years old.
My project is due at the end of May. I would like my service hours done before that though because I have to write a report on it.

Unless the hospitals in your area are very different to the ones here, this won’t be possible.
While it is a nice thought, it is very impracticle.
Most hospitals will not allow any volunteers under the age of 16 or in some cases 18.
Most children in hospital have very protective families who guard their privacy.
Where children with cancer require hospitalisation, often ths is due to infection risk and allowing a child to mix with them is of greater risk than allowing an adult.
Police checks are often required which can take weeks or even months to complete.
If you wish to read to young children as your service project, try contacting your local chld care centre or kindegarten where infection control is not as big a risk although a police check may still make this unachievable in the time frame you are looking at.
Add: One place that a young, smiling visitor is ALWAYS welcome is at an assisted living centre or nursing home.
There are many older people who never get visitors and would love to see some. Once you get used to them, you may find yourself wanting to continue these visits.

Toward a Risk-Based Assessment of the Adult Cancer Survivor: Late Effects of Chemotherapy (Hospital Practice)
Toward a Risk-Based Assessment of the Adult Cancer Survivor: Late Effects of Chemotherapy (Hospital Practice)
Survivorship care of the cancer patient has become a growing concern among oncologists and primary care physicians in communities across the country. It is now recognized as a distinct phase in the continuum of cancer care. There are an estimated 12 million Americans with a history of cancer looking to their oncologists and primary care physicians for assistance in navigating the difficult waters of survivorship. Although a concerted effort is underway, there are few evidence-based guidelines or recommendations for managing long-term and late effects of adult cancer survivors. The Children ’s Oncology Group has developed consensus guidelines to improve and standardize care of the survivors of childhood to young adult cancers. Their successful efforts could serve as a model for a similar undertaking to address the post-treatment care of adult survivors. In the absence of evidence-based or consensus guidelines, knowledge of late effects can inform and direct assessment of survivors presenting with late sequelae of chemotherapy agents.Survivorship care of the cancer patient has become a growing concern among oncologists and primary care physicians in communities across the country.
